Le Village is about people, as the only neighbourhood selected by the city of Montreal to become the first fully pedestrian main street, with at least 10 blocks of the village core returned to the people for walking, strolling, shopping, eating, all car free, all summer long. Le Village is festival, with the summer long International Montreal Fireworks Competition - Wednesdays and Saturdays - best viewed by the water-front edge of the village. July brings 300 artists to the village streets for the International Open-Air Arts Festival. This is a bi-lingual local neighbourhood where you hear French and English mixed freely, and the mix is made all the more diverse with the University of Quebec at Montreal (UQAM), Montreal’s media industry, and a concentration of Montreal’s gay community all calling this neighbourhood home.
